Just one hundred and fifty miles east of Puerto Rico, close to the Virgin Islands, and only six miles north of the French/Dutch island of St Martin/St Maarten, Anguilla is the most northerly of the Leeward Islands in the Eastern Caribbean and has an area of approximately 35 square miles: 16 miles long and 3 miles wide. The total population is estimated at approximately 13,500.
Anguilla is famous for its pristine beaches, abundant marine life, fine dining and world-class hotels and is accessible via:
- Comfortable, direct, one-hour flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico (each day, with several daily flights available);
- Regularly scheduled flights to Saint Martin/Sint Maarten, serviced by several major airlines (including KLM, Lufthansa, Air France and American Airlines), which can either connect to Anguilla by air from Sint Maarten’s Princess Juliana International Airport (10 minute flight) or by ferry from Marigot, Saint Martin (20 minutes).
Anguilla has a good communications infrastructure with all the usual services including telephone, fax, Internet and email capabilities and international courier service. English is the official spoken language.
